5-minute meditation tips to lower stress this Christmas 🎄

It’s been a fast-moving year but once again it’s Christmas! And since time⌚ seems to be moving so fast these days, I thought by writing a 5-minute meditation tips blog post would help you to lower your Festive stress levels.

So, if you don’t feel stressed then you can quickly skim over this one knowing you’re in the lucky minority. If it’s not the dog knocking over the Christmas tree, it’s uncomfortable family discussions over Christmas dinner.

Anyway, I decided to write my favourite 5-minute meditation tips to help you conquer Christmas chaos and lower your stress levels. These tips, when practiced often, will change Festive jeer into Festive cheer! 🥂

1. You’re NOT trying to achieve anything

Meditation🧘‍♂️ is NOT something you’re trying to achieve. Quite the opposite. Meditation is being aware of your thoughts without judgement.

Meditation is simple awareness. For example, if you shut your eyes and listen to your thoughts, space will arise.

2. The more you practice the better you will become

Meditation is NOT a skill like wrapping presents or making Christmas dinner, but it still takes practice. When you shut your eyes and wait patiently, you need a certain amount of alertness.

Observing your thoughts in this way will expand your awareness. Even when no thoughts come, observe the space and light will shine through.

3. Meditation is NOT concentration

Meditating in this way is DIFFERENT from concentration. You’re not focusing directly on a candle 🕯 or trying desperately not to get distracted.

You remain the awareness behind the thinking mind and everything else. The observing consciousness.

4. Shut your eyes 👀

It seems like an obvious tip to shut your eyes, but it makes meditation so much easier.

5. What is your next thought going to be? 💭

When you shut your eyes, try paying attention to what your next thought is going to be. This is what Eckhart Tolle calls “Watching the thinker”.

By observing your thoughts passing through your mind, you find the gaps. The silence between your thoughts, 💭the consciousness that creates reality.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all the followers of attitudecoach.org. 🥂 🌟
