Pursuing your goals can feel like climbing a steep hill with a heavy load. Progress requires effort and determination. If you find yourself faltering in the pursuit of your goals, consider these five critical reasons.

1. The goal doesn’t show your values
One of the most common flaws with setting a goal is it doesn’t show your own personal values. So, you struggle with motivation and can’t get going.
Your goals should be challenging, but they also have to matter to you. What is it about achieving this goal that excites you and drives you on?

What do you value?
Do you know what your values are? This is ultimately what you are passionate about, what gets you out of bed in the morning.
For example, what values and principles do you live by? If you value being courageous, then you’ll do what needs to be done in spite of fear.
It is important to work towards a goal that requires courage. This often involves stepping out of your comfort zone. In this way, you can use courage to overcome fear and achieve your goal.
You have to know what you really want and why achieving this goal would make your life better. For example, buying a brand new house in the country.
Create own mental movie
Regularly visualize what the property would look like in your imagination. Make the images big, bold and bright. And see yourself living in the house.

2. Your goal is too challenging
Maybe your goals are too difficult?, they rely too much on luck or are they simply just unrealistic? If that’s the case, change your goal.
Winning the lottery is not a realistic goal because you rely too much on luck.🍀You can’t take steps to achieving your goal other than buying more lotto tickets.

In contrast, a goal that can be achieved too easily will not stretch you enough. Remember goals are for growing!
And a goal that is too challenging, that stretches you well beyond your limits, is also unhelpful. For example, preparing to run a marathon before you’ve even attempted to run a 10K.

3. You need to be more persistent
You need more persistent. Goals are there to stretch us. They help us to develop new skills. This requires both patience and persistence.
Of course, you gain from some lucky breaks along the way. But you need to develop persistence to move towards your target.🎯
In other words, if you keep ticking off your daily objectives, you’ll keep making progress. Just make sure your still headed towards achieving your goal and have not made a detour.

4. Lack of patience
Michelangelo said “genius is eternal patience”. When you are patient, you see new ways of moving ahead. New ways of thinking.
When you work towards ticking off your daily objectives, new skills and strategies become obvious. You move closer towards your goal.
Patience lets you stay mindful and enjoy the task at hand.
“Patience is a virtue.”
— William Langland (poet)
Being patient lets you stay in a peaceful state without agitation or frustration. It often helps to practice patience first! I like mindfulness and meditation.

5. You’re consuming too much online content
Whether you’re browsing the internet, shopping on Amazon or watching funny cat videos, it’s all time consuming. Call it procrastination, boredom or lack of motivation.
There are tonnes of benefits to managing your screen time more effectively. By unplugging your digital devices and cutting down your screen time will help you stay focused on your goals.
